TSOP6230TR is a type of remote receiver from Vishay Semiconductor, which is integrated with a high-performance PIN photo detector and preamplifier. This device has an improved version from its predecessor TSOP6x30. It has a wide range of applications in bright environments due to its high sensitivity and low noise levels.

Application Field

TSOP6230TR remote receivers are mainly used in infrared proximity sensing, motion detection, point-to-point infrared communication, and remote control applications. These receivers are mainly mounted near window segments for ambient brightness suppression, which include automotive control systems, remote control systems, door security system, and appliance remote control systems. These devices are also extensively beneficial for receiver modulators, home entertainment appliances, and remote pointing devices.

Working Principle

TSOP6230TR uses a PIN photo diode and preamplifier integrated with a monolithic IC receiver. This receiver demodulates infrared signals modulated at 38kHz, which is sent from a remote control transmitter. The receiver enables the capability to remotely control home and industrial appliances from a distance. This receiver is inspired by Impulse Frequency Modulation, which is an advanced version of Pulse Time Modulation. PPM signals can be regulated with a single pulse that is appropriate for more compact remote control applications.

When an infrared beam, often referred to as pulsed IR beams, is emitted from the transmitter towards the receiver, the photo-diode receives the beam signals and transforms them into electric signals. In the consistent presence of an infrared signal, the transistor gets switched on, thereby circuit connected at the output, ON. When the signal is lost, the transistor switches to OFF mode, thus turning off the output. This pin has a gain which must be adjusted for remote control applications using the external resistor network that is provided on the device. This adjustment helps to match the receiving level to the transmitting level of the remote control system.
