NTC thermistors are widely used within the industrial lighting and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) markets, as they are reliable, cost-effective sensors with a low thermal mass enabling the capture of rapid temperature fluctuations. The TTS-2.2KC3-BG is a B-gauge NTC thermistor, meaning that the nominal resistance value is 2.2kΩ at 25°C (77°F). As the temperature changes, its resistance follows the widely acclaimed B-type thermistor curve providing a linear approximation of the resistance value over a wide range of temperatures, from -18°C to 125°C (0°F to 257°F).This sensor offers a great deal of functionality for a variety of applications like temperature measurement and control, over-temperature protection, and even as parts in RTD-Thermistor compound thermometers. The TTS-2.2KC3-BG also provides excellent long-term stability and features a wide operating temperature range. Furthermore, its ability to track small changes in temperature quickly makes it suitable for applications where rapid temperature shifts are expected.The TTS-2.2KC3-BG thermistor consists of a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) type ceramic core, which offers high sensitivity and wide temperature ranges, covered by a non-conductive epoxy body to protect the core components. The thermistor also has a 25 gauge twisted, tin-plated wire, which is used to ensure a good connection to the resistance measurement system. The thermistor core is constructed using a sintered oxide of nickel and cobalt as its active resistance element. As the temperature changes, the resistance of the core material varies according to the temperature coefficient, and a resistance value can be measured. The resistance of the thermistor is low at high temperatures, and high at low temperatures; this property is beneficial for many applications.The working principle behind how the TTS-2.2KC3-BG thermistor works is rather simple. The increasing or decreasing temperature creates a change in the resistance or impedance often following the “B-type thermistor curve”. The TTS-2.2KC3-BG is a B-gauge thermistor, meaning that it is designed to present a linear relationship between its resistance value and temperature over a wide temperature range.
