Common Mode Chokes (CMC) are specialized electromechanical components that are used to suppress common mode noise in electric equipment. The term “common mode” is used to describe neutral currents, which travel through two conductors in opposite directions, in circuits using complex three-phase systems. A CMC works by routing the undesirable electrical current through its core in such a way that it neither reaches nor affects the rest of the electric system.

The TVHS-2.5-302 is a two-dimensional common mode choke used to suppress common-mode power line noise, especially in applications that are located near large loads such as motors. It is designed to have an impedance that is high (2,500 ohms) from 50 to 400 Hertz, and low (less than 5 ohms) from 400 to 30,000 hertz.
