The UCC28600EVM is an evaluation module (EVM) for the UCC28600 intelligent digital off-line switcher (power supply). It is designed to provide designers with a platform to investigate and evaluate the performance, operation, and ease of use of the UCC28600 intelligent digital off-line switcher. The EVM consists of a populated UCC28600 and an integrated circuit (IC) development board to provide power supply control and monitoring.The UCC28600EVM is an ideal evaluation tool for evaluating the performance capability of the UCC28600 intelligent digital off-line switcher. The UCC28600EVM is complete with AUX, DC/DC, and output connectors for easy connection to external equipment, and includes a fully-populated digital board that provides features such as short circuit protection, over-temperature protection, and input voltage monitoring. The UCC28600EVM is designed to operate with supplies ranging from 7 to 18VDC and can handle output currents up to 2A.The UCC28600EVM is intended to be used in the evaluation of a variety of off-line switch mode power supplies (SMPS). The UCC28600EVM can be used in many different types of applications including single-ended and double-ended topologies, open-loop and closed-loop designs, resonant converters, non-isolated and isolated converters, and more.The UCC28600EVM operates on the principles of pulse width modulation (PWM). The PWM technique is used to adjust the output voltage or current of the power supply by varying the on and off time of the MOSFET switch. The UCC28600EVM is designed to drive the switching MOSFET switch with a high frequency square waveform at a frequency range of 400kHz to 1MHz.The UCC28600EVM is capable of providing excellent performance in many applications. In high power applications, the UCC28600EVM can generate very low output ripple and noise. In addition, the UCC28600EVM provides excellent line and load regulation, enabling designers to build highly efficient power supplies with very stable output voltage waves.
