The UCC2897AEVM designed by Texas Instruments, a global semiconductor company, makes use of the Sync-Rectified Forward Controller (SRFC) topology using the UCC2897A IC, which is an advanced mixed-signal IC from the company. This topology consists of three stages: PFC (Power factor correction) and two SRFC stages. The UCC2897A IC using the SRFC topology is well suited for applications that require high efficiency over a wide load range, from low to high power applications. The UCC2897AEVM board is powered by an isolated 200W power supply. This can be configured to provide up to 90V by adjusting the primary and secondary winding turns ratio. The board has several protection features against over voltage, over current, and over temperature such as opto-isolated gate drive for primary side, over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, short-circuit protection on the secondary side, transient protection, and others.

The UCC2897AEVM board features a variety of electrical connections and control signals making it very versatile. It has two connector receptacles, four header pins, four terminal blocks, and a connector for the digital control panel. The control signals can be supplied either through the digital control panel or through the four header pins. The four terminal blocks provide the interconnects between the 200W power supply and UCC2897A IC.

The UCC2897AEVM board works on the principle of the Sync-Rectified Forward Controller (SRFC) topology which consists of the Power Factor Correction (PFC) and two SRFC stages. The board has two SRFC stages on the primary side and one on the secondary side. The SRFC stages provide high-efficiency and fast transient response making it ideal for high-power applications. The PFC stage is designed to perform power factor correction and this helps in providing clean input power to the SRFC stages. The SRFC stages and the PFC stage are controlled by the UCC2897A IC.

The board is capable of operating in either continuous conduction mode (CCM) or discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) depending on the application. The switching frequency of the board can be adjusted in the range of 50kHz to 400kHz and the primary peak current is adjustable up to 15A. The UCC2897AEVM board also features integrated load current sense circuitry for providing accurate load current information to the UCC2897A IC.

The UCC2897AEVM board also includes on-board Power-Good, Error Amplifier Gain, ZCD Gains, Pre-Reset Comparator, and Soft-Start adjustments, so that it is easy to get optimum performance from the system. The on-board digital control panel also provides additional features like peak current limit setting, DC/DC voltage setting, and other settings related to the system. Overall, the UCC2897AEVM board is ideal for evaluating the performance of the UCC2897A IC.
