A TVS, or Transient Voltage Suppressor, is used to protect a circuit or component from high voltage transient events. The device can also be referred to as a Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV). MOVs and Varistors are two different types of TVSs designed for suppressing transients over different voltage and energy levels.
