TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) varistors and MOVs (Metal Oxide Varistors) are widely used in the protection of data lines, power supplies, active and passive electronic components, etc. They both act as dynamic voltage limitation of peak voltages, or as an electronic circuit breaker to reduce the over-voltage pulses and make the voltage harmless for the protected device.
