The synchronous switch is driven by a sawtooth signal generated by a carrier pulse generator. A high frequency sine wave signal is directly applied to a transformer that is used to couple the active switch with the output. This produces a high voltage AC voltage on the primary side of the transformer, which in turn induces a high voltage DC voltage on the secondary side of the transformer.
