Dc-dc converters are ubiquitous in modern electrical systems and are used to provide regulated dc outputs. VE-25T-MW-S is a type of dc-dc converter designed to provide a regulated and isolation output from an unregulated dc input.The VE-25T-MW-S features an output voltage rating of 25W and is designed for use in industrial, consumer, telecommunication and other applications. The basic operating principle of the VE-25T-MW-S is to convert an unregulated dc input voltage into a regulated output voltage of typically 33V or less.The VE-25T-MW-S is designed to provide a high isolation level while also providing a high efficiency rating of up to 90%. It is a non-isolated design with a regulated output voltage of + or -25V with a peak efficiency of 80%.The VE-25T-MW-S operates on an unregulated input voltage range of + or -15V, and offers a wide temperature range operation (-20 to 105°C). It uses a modified buck circuit architecture and features a spread spectrum frequency of 130 to 165kHz.The basic block diagram of the VE-25T-MW-S is shown in the figure below. The input voltage is regulated using an active voltage regulation circuit. This circuit regulates the voltage to a desired value. The rectified voltage is then fed to a current sense amplifier which monitors the output current and sends a signal to the modulating circuit to make the necessary output voltage adjustments according to the load demand.The main components of the VE-25T-MW-S are the inductor, the diode, the MOSFET switch, and the capacitor. The inductor is responsible for delivering energy to the system at a steady rate. The diode is responsible for preventing the reverse current flow from the circuit. The MOSFET switch is used to switch the current from the input supply to the output and regulates the output voltage depending on the load demand. The capacitor is used to filter the output voltage.The VE-25T-MW-S uses a predetermined switching frequency and different pulse width modulation schemes depending on the application. It is also designed to provide a regulated output voltage without any external voltage regulation components.The VE-25T-MW-S offers excellent line and load regulation and its output voltage is adjustable in increments of 2.5V, 10V and 33V. It exhibits good long-term stability and offers wide input voltage range (16V to 40V).
