Dc Dc converters make use of the concept of input voltage and output voltage of DC electricity. In this article, we are taking a look at one specific type, the VE-25V-CV, for its application field and working principle.
VE-25V-CV converters are efficient in achieving a switching circuit between input voltage and output voltage, in order to achieve a steady output voltage for a relatively large input voltage range. This enables the converter to be applied effectively in fields that require a reliable output voltage from an input voltage variation such as automotive batteries, battery chargers, wind turbines, solar cells and the like.
The working principle of a VE-25V-CV converter can be broken down into three sub steps. First, the DC input voltage is stepped down to an intermediate voltage level. This is done by an inductor and a diode, which creates a path of current flow and holds an electro-magnetic field which helps maintain the current flowing during the rest of the steps.
Next, a high speed DC-DC switcher is included in the circuit. This switcher works as an on/off switch, in which a P-channel or an N-channel MOSFET is used to vary the current flow from the source. The switching through the P-channel or the N-channel allows the converter to reduce the amount of heat generated.
The last part of the process is the conversion of the intermediate voltage to the desired output voltage. This is achieved by a step-up converter in which a voltage regulator chip, such as a boost controller, is used. This voltage regulator chip is able to control the output voltage to be desired steady voltage, despite any external voltage fluctuation.
VE-25V-CV converters are efficient and reliable tools, to achieve a desired output voltage from a wider input voltage range. Its ability to step down the input voltage to an intermediate voltage, being able to control an on/off switch and then convert it to a steady output voltage, makes it an excellent choice within those specific applications.
