DC-DC converters provide an alternative solution for effective and ‘clean’ conversion of power between DC sources where the input voltage (Vin) is standalone, or a regulated power source.VE-25V-CX-F4 is a high power density DC-DC converter designed for use in applications such as power supplies, motor control systems and automotive industry. It is suitable for both input and output switching applications. The device features a maximum input voltage range of 25V, a maximum nominal output voltage of 4V and a maximum switching power of 250W. It has a high conversion efficiency of up to 95%.The working principle of the VE-25V-CX-F4 is based on a switched mode power supply (SMPS) topology. In a SMPS, an electrical switch is used to control the flow of power from a DC source to a load. The switch is operated in a high speed, pulse-width-modulated (PWM) fashion such that the output current is proportional to the input voltage (Vin) and the duty cycle of the switch. The frequency of the PWM control is determined by an oscillator circuit. The width of the pulse controls the output power.When working with VE-25V-CX-F4, the clock frequency of the oscillator must be set correctly for optimal performance and efficiency. Typically, for low output power up to 25W, the circuitry operates at a frequency of up to 400kHz. In addition, the device features overvoltage, overtemperature, overload and reverse polarity protection to ensure reliable operation.The VE-25V-CX-F4 is capable of supplying up to 250W of output power with a regulated voltage.
