The converter utilizes an isolated, synchronous, current-mode topology, which reduces the output ripple and provides superior regulation when compared to traditional pulse-width-modulated (PWM) DC-DC Buck converter designs.The integrated circuit consists of three main components: the main driver, the synchronous sampling circuit and the feedback control. The main driver works by converting current output from the control circuit into a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal. This signal drives the synchronous sampling circuit that samples the voltage drop across the current sense resistor in the power circuit. The sampled voltage signals are then fed back to the control circuit to regulate the output voltage.In order to maximize the efficiency of the converter, the VE-B4T-MW-S contains three integrated low-side MOSFET switches and one integrated high-side MOSFET switch. These switches are controlled by the high-voltage pulse-width-modulated signal generated by the control circuit. The high-side switch acts as the synchronous rectifier, allowing current to flow in only one direction and preventing the input voltage from being applied to the output.
