The VE-B53-MX is a type of DC-DC converter specifically designed for industrial, automotive, and medical applications. The VE-B53-MX is a synchronous, switch-mode DC-DC converter that operates on the buck-boost principle. It can step-up and step down an input voltage from 2.7V-36V to an output voltage of 3.3V-36V. The output current can be set to 24A max.

The VE-B53-MX converter uses a switching converter architecture which comprises of an inductor, an input capacitor, an output capacitor, an output inductor, and MOSFETs. Pulling the high-side MOSFET on the rising edge of the clock causes current to be inducted into the inductor, while the low side MOSFET is turned off during the same time. As the inductor saturates, the high side MOSFET is turned off and the low side MOSFET is turned on. The voltage across the inductor then collapses, pushing the current through the output capacitor.

The VE-B53-MX converter supports operating frequencies from 200kHz to 2MHz, allowing for high power conversion and efficiency levels. The main advantage of the VE-B53-MX compared to other DC-DC converters is its extremely low on-time, allowing for higher current and power levels than typically possible with other converters. The VE-B53-MX also features an adjustable output voltage, input overvoltage protection, and short-circuit protection.
