These converters can also be utilized in medical instruments, set-top boxes, industrial automation systems, and power distribution systems.The VE-J5D-CX is a single-stage, isolated design DC-DC converter, featuring output voltage range of 24V-48V. Its basic working principle involves the use of two big switching transistors, one, an “on” switch and a second, an “off” switch. The topology used is the Gate Turn-Off (GTO) topology, which preserves energy savings by reducing switching losses and output voltage ripple.When the “on” switch is engaged, the input DC voltage source is then sent to the transformer’s primary winding, thus allowing a relatively small amount of electrical current to flow. This current, in turn, creates a magnetic field, which then converts the DC voltage to a higher AC voltage level.The AC voltage is then coupled to the secondary winding of the transformer and rectified to create a DC voltage at the desired output voltage range. During the voltage conversion process, the converter requires an additional power supply, known as the drive voltage, to act as an excitation or “bias” voltage.Once the output voltage reaches its desired level, the “off” switch is then activated, in order to disconnect the power supply from the transformer and thus return the converter to a standby mode. The VE-J5D-CX DC-DC converter is also equipped with a start-up control circuit, which is used to reduce the ramp-up voltage and current, and thus provide clean power to the system.The DC-DC converter is designed with an integrated protection circuit, which safeguards against abnormal input and output voltage conditions and helps prevent damage caused by current overload or short-circuit conditions.
