Both topologies require additional circuitry in the form of a voltage regulator circuit, since the output voltage has to be stabilized and precisely adjusted.

The VI-2NW-MY-S series of converters are able to support a wide input voltage range and offer wide adjustable output current and voltage range. Peak efficiency of the converters is typically above 96%, and up to 98%. With the combination of high efficiency and small form factor, thermal losses are minimized. The VI-2NW-MY-S converters can also operate over a wide temperature range.

The VI-2NW-MY-S series of converters is capable of carrying out both non-isolated operation and PC board isolated operation employing either synchronous rectifiers or linear regulator circuitry. The working principle of the VI-2NW-MY-S converter is based on the use of a switching element, typically a MOSFET or IGBT, to convert the input voltage into the desired output voltage. The switch is controlled by an internal or external control circuit to achieve the desired output voltage.
