The device offers high-efficiency operation and is capable of achieving a power output of up to 400W.The VI-B1Z-CX utilizes primary-side regulation, which can provide regulated DC output over a wide input voltage range, even in the presence of unfavorable load or line conditions. The converter achieves this by varying the duty cycle of a high-frequency MOSFET switching regulator. A PI loop is employed to regulate the output voltage. The PI loop consists of an error amplifier, reference comparator, adjust comparator, reference voltage divider, and a shunting current source. The error amplifier compares the output of the reference voltage divider to the output of a sense resistor. This provides the PI loop with the necessary information to maintain a regulated output voltage. The output voltage can also be adjusted or adjusted through an external resistor connected to the adjust pin. The VI-B1Z-CX allows for variable operation via an integrated enable/disable pin. When the chip is disabled, it limits the output current to a fraction of the current limit, allowing for a softer start-up, as well as protection from excessive inrush current. When the enable/disable signal is active, the current will increase to its full-rated current. The device also features overload and short circuit protection, and can switch between three operating modes; a synchronized buck (down-conversion), a buck-boost (up/down-conversion) and a discontinuous conduction mode (DCM).
