DC DC Converters

VI-BTN-MW-F2 (Voltage-Insulated Bridge Topology Non-Isolated-Module and Water-Cooled Flat-Package) is a type DC-DC converter. It is built around inherently isolated and frequency-modulated buck/boost switching topologies, which offer superior power density and efficiency. This DC-DC converter has been certified by UL/cUL, VDE, TUV, ENERGY STAR and others.

Application Field

Since VI-BTN-MW-F2 has very high power density, it is suitable for applications which require a high level of power efficiency and compact size. It is widely used in various industries such as automotive, consumer electronics, communication, industrial equipment and medical equipment. It can be used for both primary (AC mains) and secondary (DC/DC switching) power supplies.

Working Principle

The working principle of VI-BTN-MW-F2 is built around frequency modulation and inherently isolated buck/boost switching topologies. It is designed to provide high efficiency in a compact size while maintaining the required isolation. The operating frequency is modulated according to the input voltage and load current, and this ensures that the converter runs at the most efficient frequency, as well as offering high power efficiency and low standby power consumption.

It has two stages for converting from low input voltage to high output voltage – a regulated voltage buck boost stage and an unregulated voltage gain stage. The regulated voltage buck boost stage absorbs the input voltage variations and converts the input voltage to a lower, regulated voltage. The unregulated voltage gain stage increases the voltage from the regulated buck/boost stage and provides an output voltage which is typically three to four times the input voltage.

VI-BTN-MW-F2 provides excellent power density, efficiency, reliability and protection against EMI emissions. It is best suited for high power applications with tight space constraints.
