DC-DC converters are electronic devices which allow an input voltage to remain constant while providing a constant output voltage even in the event of fluctuating load conditions. This is accomplished by converting direct current (DC) power from one voltage level to another. Input and output voltages can be isolated, allowing for a wide range of applications. VI-JTT-MX is one such device, designed for step-up and step-down DC to DC conversions.
VI-JTT-MX converter is a high efficiency, high power density, non-isolated DC-DC converter that integrates a Low Pass Filter (LPF) for EMI reduction. It is suitable for automotive, industrial, and a variety of other applications. This converter is designed to work with low resistance, high-current input sources such as 12V lithium batteries, high-current DC sources, or even automotive alternators.
The VI-JTT-MX converter has two main topologies – a step-up and a step-down mode. In step-up mode, it takes an input voltage lower than the output voltage and produces an output voltage higher than the input. It does this by transferring the power from the input source and transforming it through the internal inductor to increase the voltage. Step-down mode does the opposite – it takes an input voltage higher than the output voltage and produces an output voltage lower than the input. In this mode, the converter transfers the power from the input source and transforms it through the internal diode and capacitor to reduce the voltage.
The VI-JTT-MX offers superior efficiency through the use of a synchronous rectifier, synchronous buck, and zero voltage switching (ZVS) technology.
