For each half cycle of the AC supply an unequal but opposite potential is applied across the two terminals, due to which a forward-biased p-n junction is formed in a diode. This massive current flow through the diode and allows the electrical current to flow in one direction only. The other three diodes follow the same functioning. During the positive half cycle of the AC supply voltage, diodes D1 and D3 get forward biased and the load current flows through D1, load, and D3, reversing its direction for the next negative half cycle since this time D2 and D4 get forward biased.
When compared with other full wave rectifiers, the Vs-26MB05A has the advantage of conducting more than twice as much as current through the load than a normal single phase full wave rectifier, because two diodes conduct simultaneously during each half cycle. The Vs-26MB05A bridge rectifier also has a much lower forward voltage drop across the terminals than a conventional rectifier.
