Working Principle

VS-94MT120KPBF bridge rectifier working principle is quite simple. It consists of two electrodes, an anode (positive side) and a cathode (negative side). A small current flows from the anode to the cathode when the diode is forward-biased (forward-biased meaning that the voltage on the anode is higher than that of the cathode). This small current produces a voltage drop across the junction between the two electrodes. When the diode is in reverse-bias, no current can flow (voltage on the anode must be lower than that of the cathode). This creates a low-impedance path between the two electrodes.

The VS-94MT120KPBF bridge rectifier has four diodes arranged in a bridge pattern. The bridge rectifier allows Alternating Current (AC) to flow in one direction only while blocking current in the reverse direction. When AC is applied to the two end terminals, a pulsating Direct Current (DC) is produced at the output. The output DC is different in several states depending on the characteristics of the diode and smoothed out by connecting a capacitor at the output. This smoothing capacitor will be charged and discharged, producing a smoother DC.

The output DC from the bridge rectifier can be used for many applications, depending on its voltage and ampere ratings. In most applications, AC from the wall outlet is converted to DC using a bridge rectifier, such as those found in telephone adapters, power supplies, and battery chargers.
