VS-VSKT91/16 Application Field and Working Principle

VS-VSKT91/16 is a high-power silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs) module of which the SCR is a self-controlled electronic switch. The SCR can be triggered using an anode-controlled gate current source. It has a large current carrying and continuous high voltage, and it has important applications in high-power fields such as those that require the controlling of a large current or a high voltage and those in which a fast response and temperature resistance are required, including welding, thermoelectricity, small locomotives, xenon lamps, and high-voltage inverters.

The working principle for the VS-VSKT91/16 is based on the SCR. It includes a main phase control unit and a gate control unit, and is made up of four equal parts with a slight angle between each part. When the main phase current is large enough, the SCR will be conductive and the current will quickly reach a desired value and remain steady. The surge protection of the SCR is dependent on the gate current, while the electromechanical withstanding voltage (such as short-circuit current) is dependent on the main phase current. The surge protection (which is actually a voltage pulse) can reach 200V, while the electromechanical withstanding voltage is over 800V. During the process of being turned on and off, the current changes slowly, the voltage difference is little, and the main phase current energy loss is greatly reduced.

The VS-VSKT91/16 can be applied for both AC (for controlling a high-power AC circuit) and DC (for controlling a high-power distribution circuit). It can also be applied for other areas in which electrical control is required. The main applications for the VS-VSKT91/16 include welding, thermoelectricity, small locomotives, xenon lamps, and high-voltage inverters.
