The X-NUCLEO-IHM02A1 is an expansion board, or daughter card, that is part of STMicroelectronics\' evaluation boards ecosystem. The MotorControl Demonstration provides a generation system to drive 3 phase BLDC, PMSM, ACIM, stepper motors. The X-NUCLEO-IHM02A1 exposes the three dedicated STM32 Nucleo expansion connectors, allowing users to easily add additional functionality to their application. The MotorControl Demonstration can be controlled by using three dedicated digital Inputs: two Push Buttons and a rotary potentiometer, thus allowing the user to control each stage of the driving system.

The DRV832x motor driver IC found on the X-NUCLEO-IHM02A1 is a robust three-phase motor driver operating from 5.5 V to 28 V and providing up to 1.8 A of continuous current. The device operates at up to 20 MHz switching frequency and features integrated protection against under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature which make it easy to use and safe. It also has an integrated MOSFET driver for high-side and low-side switches in the motor circuit.
