X-NUCLEO-IHM16M1 is an easily expandable two-phase stepper motor driver expansion board designed to enable the development of energy efficient products. It performs and regulates the power delivery according to NEMA23 stepper motor and is based on the STSPIN240 system. With no need for designing another motor driver, users get instant access to the code for implementing the two-phase stepper motor in Arduino projects, making it the perfect choice for Arduino applications.

The X-NUCLEO-IHM16M1 is equipped with the STSPIN220 drivers. It allows the control of up to three motors with no need for complex connection schemes. Each motor is driven by two L6470 power stage ICs. To ensure the highest performance, the board provides a microstepping resolution of up to 1/256. It also provides over-temperature protection and short-circuit protection for the motors.

The X-NUCLEO-IHM16M1 integrates the STDP15 System in Package and the STM8L151 microcontroller. The STDP15 SiP packs four power transistors with an integrated high-side voltage sensing circuit. It activates protection features when the load current exceeds a programmed level, protecting the motors from damage. The microcontroller enables the control of the board parameters, such as the microstepping resolution, current regulation level and speed.

The X-NUCLEO-IHM16M1 board is designed to facilitate the integration of two-phase stepper motors into products of various sizes, from low-power applications, such as a personal robot, to high-power applications, such as a motion control system. It is compatible with the Arduino hardware platform and is powered by a 3.3V microcontroller.
