X9241AWVZ is a digital potentiometer designed and manufactured to provide precise control of an analog signal. It works on a resistive ladder principle in which the voltage divider is made up of an array of resistors accordingly connected. The value of the resistive ladder is determined by the digital input. The resistor array ladder is usually made up of 256 steps (2^8). Each bit of the binary or Gray coded digital input corresponds to a resistor in the ladder. When the bit is high, the respective resistor is connected to the positive power rail; when the bit is low, the respective resistor is disconnected to the positive power rail.
