RF Evaluation and Development Kits, Boards are a type of equipment used for testing radio waves during experiments in the science and technology. The RF Evaluation and Development Kit XK-A11-EBP-W is a versatile platform designed for prototyping, experimentation and development of wireless communication applications. It enables users to create various projects by using the board, including wireless mesh network, wireless sensors, mobile embedded device, smart phone accessory, etc.

XK-A11-EBP-W is based on Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF51822, an ultra-low power Bluetooth Low Energy 4.2/4.1 System-on-Chip (SoC). This SoC offers features such as an ARM Cortex-M0 CPU with 24MHz clock, on- chip limiter, integrated BLE stack, rich peripherals and up to 128kB of flash memory. It also provides UART/SPI/I2C interface, as well as a 20mA/8CH PWM output and an adjustable analog input.

XK-A11-EBP-W application field is mainly for Bluetooth experimental development, but also suitable for other IoT device development. It provides a lot of features, such as Bluetooth 4.2\4.1 compliant, multiple layers of anti-interference (ISM band, FSK, PWM and CTH), digital signal path with 120dB digital attenuation, and frequency hopping auto-scanning. Moreover, the board has integrated heat for thermal protection, as well as an over-current protection to prevent overheating.

XK-A11-EBP-W working principle is based on an open source Bluetooth stack based on the popular Bluetooth Low Energy v4.2 protocol. It provides a dedicated HCI interface connecting the internal Bluetooth controller to a microcontroller, and a dedicated application layer which includes standard services. The board can be configured to work in either RX or TX direction. For both directions, the transceiver wires are connected to the antenna, where radio frequency signals are sent and detected. This is then transmitted to the microcontroller, where the data can be read and interpreted.

The working process of XK-A11-EBP-W consists of three basic steps. Firstly, power up the board and configure the frequency and modem settings, such as bit rate, modulation type, spreading factor etc. After this is done, the data can be transmitted. In the second step, the data is encoded into digital packets, which are then sent via a wire or over the air. The data is then received by the microcontroller and decoded into the desired form. Finally, the signal is received by the user application and processed accordingly.
