The VCO (Voltage-Controlled Oscillator) is the core part, in which the phase error output by the phase detector is compared to the input signal and then processed according to the loop gain to generate the stable periodic output signal. The phase detector is the key component which drives the PLL to lock. Once the phase difference between the input signal and the oscillation output of the VCO is zero, the phase detector will stop outputting the phase error signal.The loop filter is a low-pass filter and its function is to remove the high frequency component in the phase error signal and ensure that the PLL has a stable operating state.
