Crystals are essential components of a wide range of electronic devices, providing efficient and reliable communication in all types of applications. The by far most common of these applications is Timing & Frequency control and Resonators. This includes networks, receivers, transceivers, radars and communication systems.
XM-1-010.0M Application Field and Working Principle
The XM-1-010.0M is a crystal from the Resonator series with an operating range of 10.0MHz to 10.000MHz and it has a 1.8V to 3.3V supply voltage. It is mainly used in the radio frequency (RF) communication systems in order to maintain a highly stable frequency reference. The XM-1-010.0M is capable of providing a stable, low noise transmission of relatively high frequency signals with negligible harmonic distortion and low power consumption.
The XM-1-010.0M works on the principle of quartz resonator and utilizes the piezoelectric properties of quartz crystals. These properties, when applied to a crystal, turn the opposite sides of the crystal into two opposite electric plates. The crystal is then allowed to vibrate between the electric plates at a particular frequency when an alternating current is applied. This vibrating frequency is determined by the physical parameters of the crystal and is known as the resonant frequency.
The resonance frequency can be altered by introducing a metal layer into the crystal structure. This causes the crystal to vibrate at two frequencies, which are different from the original one. These are known as the fundamental frequency and its third overtone. The XM-1-010.0M utilizes the fundamental frequency in order to provide a stable frequency reference.
To achieve this, the XM-1-010.0M requires a significant amount of capacitance in order to create an oscillator circuit. This capacitance is typically provided by adding a crystal resonator into the circuit. The crystal resonator is then allowed to vibrate in the oscillator circuit based on the preselected frequency. The oscillator circuit will then be modulated with the best frequency across the entire operating range of the crystal.
The XM-1-010.0M has a wide range of applications, such as in transmitters, receivers, transceivers and communication systems. It can also be used for radar and navigation purposes. Thus, the XM-1-010.0M has become an integral part of many modern day electronic devices, providing efficient, low noise communication and reliable frequency control.
