Ripple 7708EVB or Evaluation Board is a low voltage, Off-Line SMPS circuit built within a DC/DC or AC/DC configuration to provide a versatile power solution for evaluation purposes and development. It is commonly used for power applications in areas such as industrial automation, communications, military, healthcare, and consumer market. The Ripple 7708EVB is a highly efficient board designed with an integrated Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) controller. This controller is combined with a high-system components, MOSFETs, and ICs to regulate the total circuitry.

The Ripple 7708EVB can be used for various applications and comes with either a 10W or 30W variant to cover a wide range of power needs. The application field includes AC/DC converters, LED lamp solutions, UPS implementations, etc. Working with a wide input voltage range of 90VAC to 264VAC, the evaluation board offers high efficiency and a stable output voltage that is adjustable up to 400V. The board also features an input over-voltage protection, short-circuit protection, and inrush current protection. This also helps in ensuring a stable operating environment for the evaluation board. Additionally, the Ripple 7708EVB evaluation board comes with a 5V/200mA standby output for TTL control signals.

The Ripple 7708EVB evaluation board works primarily using Peak Current Mode Control with Clamp Pattern, Adjustable Frequency, and operate in the range from 50kHz to 300kHz. It covers a number of reference designs that are optimized for power applications including AC/DC converters that use PFC Corrected PWM, Flyback converters, Isolated Power Supplies, DC/DC converters, Constant Current LED drivers, and Buck converters. This is also why the Ripple 7708EVB board is suitable for a variety of applications.

To use the 7708EVB evaluation board, users require an isolated power source with an output voltage of 12V, or they can use a switching regulator or a battery to power the board. Alternatively, the evaluation board can be operated with a dc voltage source with an input range from 10V to 36V. All inputs and outputs of the board can then be connected to a secure peripheral circuit or load, which are set up off-board. This allows the board to function as a reference source for Single Output Converters. Additionally, it is possible to operate the 7708EVB evaluation board at an elevated temperature for analysis and testing of its performance.
