RFI and EMI shielding is used to reduce the electromagnetic interference (EMI) created by a signal-emitting device which can cause problems in other electrical systems and equipment. Shielding is accomplished by coating the equipment with a shielding material that absorbs or blocks the electromagnetic radiation. The 5-1267-2 material is a type of shielding material that is used for applications including electronic components, industrial cabinets, and enclosures. It is a blend of metals with polymers, including nickel, copper, and aluminum, and is designed to absorb and redirect electromagnetic energy.
When used to shield objects, the metal in the 5-1267-2 material becomes the outer layer of the shield. This outer layer absorbs the electromagnetic waves, thus eliminating the signals getting through the shield. The polymers are used to bond the metal particles together to provide better mechanical strength and electrical contact. The material is also designed to be self-adhering, eliminating the need for screws or rivets when attaching the shielding material to the equipment being protected.
The 5-1267-2 material can be used to shield a variety of components, such as cable shielding, RF shielding, electronic enclosures, electronic components, industrial robots, and cabinets. It is also used to reduce the amount of electromagnetic interference in computer systems, or to reduce the speed of ultrasonic pulses in cyclic spectrometers and sensors.
The material is effective in absorbing or blocking electromagnetic radiation up to a frequency of 2.4GHz, making it ideal for shielding radars and other high-frequency devices. In addition, it can attenuate up to 80 dB of EMI at frequencies up to 10 GHz. This is especially helpful in large systems such as airports or data centers where the EMI may be elevated due to the density of equipment.
The 5-1267-2 material works by redirecting the electromagnetic energy away from the equipment being shielded, and directly absorbing the energy itself. This absorption is accomplished by providing an impedance-mismatched surface between the material and the electromagnetic field. This creates a type of electrical circuit which slows down the energy of the wave as it passes through the shield. In addition, the material is designed to be able to dissipate heat effectively, which helps to further reduce the strength of the wave.
The 5-1267-2 material is a versatile and effective shielding material used to reduce electromagnetic interference in a wide range of applications. It is easy to install, self-adhesive, and can be used to attenuate up to 80 dB of EMI. The material is ideal for shielding high-frequency systems such as radars, as well as for protecting large-scale systems, such as airports or data centers.
