Working Principle of LP339N/NOPB

The LP339N/NOPB is a dual comparator circuit that contains two comparators in a single IC package. The inputs of each comparator are two independent input pins, namely VᵢN and VᵢP, where VᵢN is the negative voltage reference and VᵢP is the positive reference. The output of the comparation is an active-high (or active-low when programmed) signal that indicates which reference voltage is greater; VᵢN or VᵢP. This is typically used to detect which of the two reference voltages has exceeded the predetermined set threshold in which case the comparator produces a logic ‘1’ output.
The LP339N/NOPB also has three additional pins, namely the Open-Collector Output Enable pin (OCE), the Output Enable pin (OE) and the VEE Supply pin. The OCE is used to enable the comparator output in open-drain configurations, while the OE pin is used to enable the comparator’s output in push-pull configurations.
