The MAX932ESA+T is an analog integrated circuit specifically designed as a linear-comparator. It is used to compare two voltage or two current signals. It may be used to detect changes in electrical signals, or to detect fault conditions.

This comparator features high speed response time, with operation up to 200 MHz for single-ended applications, and up to 300 MHz for differential applications. In operation, the MAX932ESA+T compares two different signals by sensing the difference between them, often referenced to a zero-cross trip-level. It then produces an output signal whose level or duration is determined by the comparison.The output of the MAX932ESA+T may go high or low, or pulse, depending on the application and programming of the device.

The MAX932ESA+T can be used in a variety of applications, including but not limited to:

  • Event detection such as contact closures or pulse widths.
  • Extremely low level AC coupling.
  • Precise timing of critical switching applications.
  • RF signal amplitude or power level detection.
  • Critical analog signal level monitoring and supervision.

The MAX932ESA+T works by amplifying the difference between two input signals, then comparing that difference to a reference center-point or trip-level. It can be programmed to detect a zero crossing, positive or negative thresholds, rising or falling edges, and MORE. An internal hysteresis control can be used to reduce noise-related triggering.

The device includes Schottky diodes to isolate input signals, and ESD protection diodes to protect against electrical surges. It also includes a single-bit serial interface which can be used to invert the output, enable or disable the comparator, and select a trip-level voltage.

In addition, the MAX932ESA+T comes in a small, 8-pin package with an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. The device is powered by a single +5VDC supply, with support for +3.3VDC operation. It can be used in a wide range of conditions, making it an ideal choice for a variety of applications.
