FPC connectors are similar to FFC connectors as they are mainly used for the same applications. However, the main difference between them is that FPC connectors incorporate wire-to-board, board-to-board, and cable-to-board connections, but with the addition of additional connectors, such as springs and buttons.

The principle behind FPC connectors is similar to that of FFC connectors. Like FFC connectors, the FPC connectors consist of two main components: the flexible circuit and the base board. The flexible circuit portion is cut and molded to conform to the desired shape and size. Thereafter, the flexible circuit is heat treated and covered with a liquid epoxy to reinforce the physical shape. It is then integrated onto the base board. The base board also provides the physical support, fit and protection of electrical connections via soldering. Lastly, the board is fastened and soldered to the terminal wiring.
