Flat Flex, Ribbon Jumper Cables

Flat flex cables, also known as ribbon jumper cables, are thin, flat strands of electrical conductors contained within a solid covering that protects them from external elements. The flat flex cables are configured in a zig-zag shape to create an interconnect between two different components on boards or circuits. They are commonly used in many industries to connect electronic components in computer or network systems, medical devices, power supplies, telecom applications and consumer appliances.

Depending on the application, the conductors can range from large single conductors, to a combination of different sizes and materials. The conductors can even be encased in a waterproof jacket for applications in marine or hazardous environments.

As a result of their design, flat flex ribbon cables are very resistant to mechanical damage, flexing, and twisting. This makes them particularly well suited for connecting moving parts. Additionally, they provide superior protection against EMI (electromagnetic interference) compared to conventional cables. This ensures that signals passing through the cable remain clear and uninterrupted, allowing for better performance.
