0297025.U Application Field and Working Principle

The 0297025.U series from Mersen is a UL Class H Fuse perfectly suited for high-voltage, high-current systems. It is CSA certified and accepted for use in the United States, Canada, and Switzerland. With a built-in fuse disconnect switch, the unit allows for easy fuse maintenance and replacement. Additionally, the fuse features optional amperage indicators and quick-connect terminals for easy connection and replacement.

The 0297025.U fuse works by dissipating the excess-energy or heat build-up created when a system attempts to draw more current than the fuse is rated for. The current flowing through the fuse creates heat by creating resistance. As the current builds up, the temperate of the fuse rises, eventually to a point where the element of the fuse melts, breaking the circuit and protecting the system from over-current flows. The fuse then must be replaced before the system can be used again. The 0297025.U is designed to work quickly and safely cut off the current in the event of a short-circuit or over-current condition.

The 0297025.U is designed for a range of applications including industrial motor-driving, heating, air-conditioning, and lighting control systems, supplying medium- and high-voltage service from 3 to 20kVac. It has a voltage range of 0-120Vac and a maximum current rating of 20A and can withstand currents of up to 100kA at 240Vac. It is suitable for use in a variety of conditions, from dry or damp locations indoors or outside, including locations where the temperatures range from -25°C to +60°C.
