OSFE030.VP Fuses: Working Principle

OSFE030.VP Fuses work on the principle of thermal energy conversion. When the fuse is exposed to an electrical current that is higher than its rated value, the fuse element rapidly heats up due to the high temperature of the current. This causes a rapid increase in the internal temperature of the fuse and its corresponding varistor. When the temperature level reaches above a certain threshold, the fuse will mechanically blow apart, breaking the electrical circuit.

When this happens, the current is interrupted and the fuse is no longer able to sustain the current, shutting off the power supply. This helps protect the circuit from further damage or overloads which can cause equipment to malfunction or even catch fire. The fuse must be replaced after the fuse has been blown apart in order to restore the power supply and resume normal operation.
