The device is constructed from two P-type and two N-type dopants that are arranged in a four-layer active, low-resistance construction. The active layers serve as the control layer, which, along with the active doped layers, provide excellent protection from transients. The 1.5KE200C-E3/54 works by diverting excessive current away from sensitive components and absorbing the voltage spike. When a high voltage transient is applied to a circuit, the 1.5KE200C-E3/54 will absorb the energy and... and break it down into a steady-state voltage that is within the device’s forward-bias safe operating area. Since the voltage is reduced, the risk of damaging the components in the circuit is minimized.The 1.5KE200C-E3/54 is a unidirectional TVS diode that allows current to flow in one direction only. This means that it can only be used in applications where essentially only one type of current is expected – either direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC).The device also has a reverse breakdown voltage of 200 V, meaning that any current passing through it must be below this value, or the DPAK package might be damaged.
