1.5KE250CA TVS - Diodes Application Field And Working Principle

Transient Voltage Suppressors or TVS Diodes, also known as secondary breakdown protection devices, are used to provide protection from overvoltage transients such as ESD, induced lightning, electrical power pulses, and cable/wire discharge events. The 1.5KE250CA TVS Diode is one such device and helps in ensuring the reliability of electronic circuits by protecting them from the damaging effects of overvoltage.

The 1.5KE250CA TVS diode comprises of a polarity scheme and package construction similar to that of a Si Diode. This device is constructed such that its breakdown voltage lies in the range of 230V to 270V, and it has a maximum peak pulse working power capable of absorbing up to 500W of power. Additionally, it has an excellent thermal resistance of R θJA of 163°C/W with a reverse leakage current of IRM of 1µA at the rated breakdown voltage.

The 1.5KE250CA TVS diode application field is mainly concentrated in consumer based electronic devices and products such as communication equipment, computer hardware, circuit boards, power supplies, HVAC systems and telecommunications networks. These applications make use of the device\'s high electrical current flow capability and excellent thermal qualities to efficiently protect circuit boards from spikes and transients.

The 1.5KE250CA TVS diode is unidirectional in nature and functions as a Boltzman Constant. It is comprised of a PN junction, upon applying voltage across which, a high electric field is produced in order to limit its current.
