Incandescent lamps are one of the most used lighting sources in our everyday life. They are the first commercially produced electric lights fueled by electricity. It is named incandescent as the filament inside the bulb emits light due to heat when connected to an electricity supply and current passes through the wire. It is known to be an economical light source compared to other types of lamps available. Incandescent lamps are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors.

The most common type of incandescent bulb is the A-type or “regular” light bulb; the most common type being the familiar 100-watt bulb. The A-type bulb is available in wattages from 10 to 150 watts. A-type bulbs come in clear glass, frosted glass and pearly white glass. They can be used for a variety of general purpose illumination purposes, for both home and business. They can be used for accent lighting, general lighting, or both. The A-type bulb is available in a range of colors such as yellow, pink, red, blue and green.

Neon lights are also very popular lighting sources. Their creation dates to the same period as incandescent bulbs, just a few decades earlier. Neons are two-electrode lamps consisting of an inert gas or gas mixture in a vacuum between two conductors. When an electric current passes through the gas or gas mixture, the gas turns into a plasma that glows brightly, producing a unique glowing light. Depending on the type of gas and gas mixture used, different colors can be produced. Unlike incandescent bulbs, neons are known to have long lifespans and use very little energy.

Neon lights can be used for commercial signage, artworks, home lighting, and much more. Neons are well suited for illuminating signs, due to their intense colors that can last for a long duration. They are also used in car headlamps to increase visibility in the dark, and as decorative elements of a room due to their bright colors and unique characteristics. Since neons are an energy-efficient lighting source, they are also used in streetlight fixtures to help reduce energy consumption.

Both incandescent lamps and neon lights are integral parts of modern life and are used widely in many applications. While incandescent bulbs are cheaper and more common, they are not as long-lasting or energy-efficient compared to neon lights. On the other hand, neons are much more expensive, but they are able to produce unique color effects and are energy-efficient. Depending on the application, either type of lighting source can be used.
