Tantalum - Polymer Capacitors consist of an Ta(V)-OSiO2 solid electrolyte dielectric, a positive anode made of porous carbon Ta202 and a negative Ta(V) cathode layer. This type of capacitor is highly stable, making them well suited for military, aerospace, and medical applications. The 10THB220M series of Tantalum – Polymer Capacitors has a capacitance value of up to 47uF and an operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C.

The 10THB220M is constructed from two layers of low-ESR polymer tantalum capacitors, where one or two layers of tantalum-oxide are used for positive and negative electrodes respectively. An oxide layer is formed on the anode during manufacturing and serves as the source of charge exchange. This layer also acts as a protective barrier, preventing corrosion and oxidation of the electrode.

The main advantage of Tantalum – Polymer Capacitors over other types of capacitors is their high frequency response and low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance).
