It binds to actin filaments in the cell\'s rear and generates a force pulling the cell forward. This molecular motor enables cells to move over long distances.

Finally, Myosin VI plays an important role in DNA repair. It binds to single-stranded DNA and utilizes its energy from ATP hydrolysis to unwind strand-displaced DNA. This facilitates the process of DNA repair, allowing cells to repair double-stranded DNA breaks quickly and efficiently.
