Tantalum Capacitors
Tantalum capacitors are a type of electrolytic capacitor composed of tantalum, a rare, hard and inert metal found primarily in the ore coltan. They are widely used in today\'s electrical engineering, and come in several different sizes and architectures. The most common type is the 13008-072MESZ, a small but very reliable component.
13008-072MESZ Application Field and Working Principle
The 13008-072MESZ capacitor is a fixed-value, miniature tantalum capacitor with a capacitance of 72µF. The anode and cathode are encapsulated in ceramic cases with an epoxy resin coating. The anode is formed from a sputtered layer containing tantalum oxide, and the cathode is formed from a layer of pure tantalum bound in the cases. The 13008-072MESZ capacitor is most commonly used in high-frequency circuits, such as those found in audio frequency applications.
