Snap Action, Limit Switches
The 142-302LAG-RB2 snap action limit switch is used in a wide range of applications, ranging from industrial equipment to vehicle and parking applications. It is designed to provide precision sensing and reliable control performance over a wide range of temperature and duty cycles. The switch is capable of manual and automatic actuation and will reliably operate in a variety of dust and humidity levels.
Switch Characteristics
The 142-302LAG-RB2 snap action limit switch has a manually operated actuator that is designed to toggle on and off by actuating the actuator button, pin, blade, or roller arm. The switch can be set for “normally closed” or “normally open” settings and has gold or silver contacts for reliable switching and long-term performance. It features a snap-acting mechanism which allows the switch to sense and control either a 10A or 16A load, depending on its application.
Application and Performance
The 142-302LAG-RB2 snap action limit switch can be used in industrial, commercial and residential applications for a variety of applications. It is commonly used in machine tools, material handling, automotive and truck liftgates, conveyor systems, material transport, HVAC and parking applications. The switch has an operating temperature range of -30°F to +220°F (-34°C to + 105°C). It is rated to carry up to 10A at 24V AC and 16A at 12V DC and is capable of a maximum of 20 million mechanical operations.
Working Principle
The 142-302LAG-RB2 snap action limit switch works on the principle of electromechanical relay. The switch consists of an actuator, set of contacts, and a coil. When the actuator is pressed, the contacts open and the coil is energized, allowing electrical current to flow through the contacts and activate the switch. The current flow then allows the coil to de-energize and the contacts to close, which causes the switch to return to its “normally closed” position. When the current is removed, the actuator releases and the contacts open, allowing the coil to re-energize and the switch to return to its “normally open” setting.
Benefits
The 142-302LAG-RB2 snap action limit switch has a variety of design and performance benefits, including: Long life performance – The switch is designed to provide reliable performance over a long life cycle, even in extreme operating conditions; Fast response times – The switch offers fast response times and can be used in applications requiring immediate shutdown or low-current activation; Flexible mounting – The actuator can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or on the side of the switch; and Temperature resistance – The switch can withstand temperatures up to 220°F (+105°C).
