As a general rule, capacitors are used for signal conditioning, power factor correction, energy storage, and EMI/RFI filtering and voltage protection. The 170334J160EC is a type of film capacitor designed for high temperature and high frequency applications such as power and backlighting for LCD displays. This film capacitor supports a maximum operating temperature range of -55°C to +155°C, 55mΩ maximum equivalent series resistance, and a self-healing, flame retardant polyimide construction. The two metal plates of a film capacitor act as conductive plates which are separated by a dielectric material such as metal oxide, polystyrene, or polyester film.
