Backplane Connectors – Hard Metric, Standard– have the common feature of being support components that provide physical electrical connections between the circuit boards in an electronic device, such as a computer system. These connectors have a lower current/voltage carrying capacity than the Hard Metric connectors, but can still meet most low to medium level requirements.

The installation of the backplane connectors is very simple and straightforward. For Hard Metric connectors, they are inserted into a series of pre-drilled holes in the PCB and then the pins are pressed until they click into place. Once they are in place, no further tightening is required. Standard connectors are inserted in a similar way but require a screwdriver to secure the pins. The connection is then tested using a continuity tester to ensure the electrical connection is good.
