Application Field

Hard Metric Standard backplane connectors are widely used in communication devices and system infrastructure. It can be integrated with any existing Ethernet, USB and PCIe solutions. It is also suitable for high density data applications. It is available in various types of product such as stackable, ground plane and isolating types.

Working Principle

The Hard Metric Standard backplane connectors are designed for board to board connection. It works by using a hard-metal pin with an additional gasket. The gasket helps to support the system board and increases contact reliability. The contact of the pin is sealed to prevent moisture, dirt and other debris from entering the connector. Contact surfaces are also designed with contactors that are carefully matched to ensure maximum contact reliability.

To further ensure contact reliability, contactors in the Hard Metric Standard backplane connectors are nickel-plated for corrosion resistance and to achieve a good contact between the board and the contactor. It also is designed with contactors positioned in their mating slots, which allows a higher degree of mating flexibility. Additionally, the Hard Metric Standard backplane connector is designed with a pick and place facility and an SMT pad for automated assembly.
