Working Principle
17683C features a circular-shaped construction, consisting of a ferrite core, a air gapand a copper conductor wound around the core. When DC or AC signals pass through the inductor, a magnetic field is generated. Because of the combination of the magnetic field and air gap, high frequency signals are suppressed while low frequency signals are allowed to pass through. Therefore, it is also called a high-frequency filter.
When DC or AC signals pass through the inductor, eddy currents are generated in the copper conductor, which opposes the changes in voltage and current. Thus a certain amount of resistance is added which helps to filter out noise from the signal. Additionally, the indicator increases the inductance of the inductor when used at high frequencies.
The inductor also plays a role in constraining the unwanted RF signals by absorbing the energy in the signal. This reduces any interference caused by the signals and helps to maintain signal integrity.
