Terminal Blocks—DIN Rail, Channel: Application Field and Working Principle
Terminal blocks are widely used in the fields of automation, electronics and electrical engineering, acting as a link between the conductor and the PCB board. They can be divided into two types: DINRail and Channel Terminal. The variety of terminal blocks can accommodate most of the demands in industrial automation, building electronics etc. DIN Rail Terminal and Channel Terminal Blocks are widely used to transmit current and signals in the fields of industrial automation, power transmission and other control systems.
DIN Rail Terminal Blocks are designed for easy installation and consist of plastic enclosures with various sizes and shapes. The DIN Rail Terminal Blocks are known for their simple structure, high reliability, strong insulation and wide range of voltage and current. The external terminals with screw connection help to reduce the risk of undesirable insulation and turnover because of component vibration, thus significantly increasing the safety and reliability of the entire system. Channel Terminal Blocks in electrical systems also refer to disconnect and connect systems. These terminal blocks are usually installed in the form of channels. The channels can be oriented in two directions: horizontal and vertical position. The contact surface of the Channel Terminal Blocks must be designed to provide enough mechanical and electrical strength to ensure long-term contacts of the metal ions. In the DIN Rail Terminal Block, two conductive elements such as copper or carbon are fixed on the base, providing low-resistance current or electrical connection. The contact surfaces between the two can be opened and closed by hand. The conductive elements contact each other when closed and separated when opened. Channel Terminal Blocks have a similar operating principle, but the connection is made with more than two elements. The conductor is inserted into the terminal block, the two halves of the terminal are pushed in and the housing is fixed in place.
DIN Rail and Channel Terminal Blocks are not only used in the field of industrial automation but also in other fields such as data storage, computing and telecommunications. They are used for power supply, signal transmission, data transmission and communication between contacts.
