To mount a Din rail mount type terminal block, first secure the left and right mounting holes by tightening the two mounting screws. Depending on the type of terminal block, the mounting holes may require a smaller pilot hole, or may be tapped directly into the wall or panel. Then slide in the Din rail mounting clip onto the terminal block.Once the Din rail mounting clip has been installed, the Din rail itself can be inserted and fixed into the mounting holes by tightening the set screws. The rail is then secured by the set screws. All Din rail terminal blocks are now ready to accept connections.Din rail terminal blocks are divided into two basic forms: single and double. A single terminal block consists of one row of terminals, while a double has two rows. These blocks are then categorized into three different types: slide-on, slot-in, and screw-on. Slide-on and slot-in terminal blocks are easier to mount because no tools are needed. The screw-on terminal blocks are more secure and require a tool to be used in order to properly mount the block.Each terminal block has a working principle, which consists of the module’s power connection system. In the case of the slide-on or the slot-in, the system is controlled by a single spring that is activated when the contact is inserted or withdrawn from the terminal block. The spring then presses against the electrical contact and provides secure electrical connection. The screw-on terminal block is activated by a single threaded screw which tightens the connection when the contact is inserted.Din rail terminal blocks can also be used for controlling the current, voltage and power in a specific application. This is known as “application field and working principle.” For this purpose, the terminals must be configured for the specific application and must be connected to the necessary power sources. Depending on the application, additional inputs, filters, or noise-suppressors may also be needed for proper operation.Din rail-mounted terminal blocks can be used in a variety of applications to ensure a safe, reliable and efficient connection between two conductive materials.
