Fixed Inductors

Fixed inductors, also known as chokes, coils, or reactors, are components which constrain or limit alternating current (AC) flow without the need for a direct electrical connection. These devices work by creating a magnetic field from electric current passing through a conductor, or winding, making them key components in instrument circuits and numerous other electronic systems. Through the application of external sources, inductors can alter the current flow between components, providing smoothing and filtering effects when maintaining the specified parameters of the circuit.

1945R-27G Application Field and Working Principle

1945R-27G fixed inductors, manufactured by Meritek Electronics Corporation, are applicable in DC/DC converters, DC/DC converters boost, current boost and current unfreeze, as well as high frequency device. These inductors, introduced in the spring of 1973, come in two varieties, one with a copper cast and the other a PVC shell. In order to create the necessary magnetic field to restrict AC flow, 1945R-27G fixed inductors should be wired in series with a power source to provide a continuous flow of electricity.

1945R-27G fixed inductors are built with a flat-coil design to deliver up to 1A of current while still providing a rated inductance in the range of .15uH to 10uH. The two inductors can also be twisted together to provide more current output when connected to the power source. To achieve maximum design efficiency, 1945R-27G fixed inductors are designed to operate in temperatures ranging between -40 and 85°C, and can resist solder temperatures up to 240°C.

1945R-27G fixed inductors rely on Faraday’s Law of electromagnetic induction which states that when the electric current through a conductor changes, a proportional magnetic field is produced. This magnetic field is strong enough to restrict AC current from component to component and depending on the application, may be adjusted to other frequencies or switched out altogether. The same linear relationship between current and magnetic field is maintained as long as the current is strong enough and frequency remains unchanged.

Overall, the 1945R-27G fixed inductors are a reliable and cost-effective component for controlling AC current in DC/DC converters, current boost, and other instrumentation circuits.
