Terminal blocks – Wire to board are a type of electrical connection devices used to mechanically join two or more electrical wires together. These blocks are mainly used in the electrical and electronic industries as well as in wiring applications. They come in two primary varieties, insulated and uninsulated. The insulated terminal blocks are designed to safely insulate the circuit from the motor or other electrical components, while the uninsulated terminal blocks are designed for direct contact with the motor or other components.

The most common type of wire to board connection is called a Daisy Chain arrangement, in which multiple contact points are connected to one another through the use of a single terminal block.

The principle of operation of terminal blocks is relatively simple. Different types of terminal blocks provide different levels of electrical isolation and different resistance values from the connected components, and all of these factors should be taken into account when selecting the appropriate type of block for the application.
