Terminal blocks – Wire to board are a type of electrical connection devices used to mechanically join two or more electrical wires together. These blocks are mainly used in the electrical and electronic industries as well as in wiring applications. They come in two primary varieties, insulated and uninsulated. The insulated terminal blocks are designed to safely insulate the circuit from the motor or other electrical components, while the uninsulated terminal blocks are designed for direct contact with the motor or other components.

Common applications include connecting motor controls to the devices they are powering, connecting multiple circuits to the electrical panel, connecting multiple circuits or devices to each other, and connecting multiple lighting fixtures to a single switch. In addition, terminal blocks are commonly used to connect the power grid with power supplies, and to connect monitoring systems with their fuel sources.

The principle of operation of terminal blocks is relatively simple. The contact points on the block make electrical contact with each other when the power supply is switched on, and the wires and components connected to the block are thus powered. Different types of terminal blocks provide different levels of electrical isolation and different resistance values from the connected components, and all of these factors should be taken into account when selecting the appropriate type of block for the application.
